Audit: State fair running in the red
Published January 27, 2009 at 12:05 a.m.
The Colorado State Fair continues to operate in the red, sustained mostly by transfers from a state unclaimed property account, a state audit says.
The audit was completed late last year but not made public until this month. The fair showed an operating loss of $2.3 million for the fiscal year that ended June 30. The state more than offset the loss with $3.2 million from the unclaimed property fund. The fair has shown losses in each of the past six years. The audit raised no concerns about the way the fair is managed.
