About two hours after his son Coby agreed to a contract with a team in Spain, Nuggets coach George Karl said he got a call Wednesday from Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry.

"Got a phone call at 6:30, when (Coby) just agreed at about 4:30 to go to Europe," George Karl said.

"They were going to pick a guy up and he was on their list. Coby said, 'I made a commitment. I’m going to Spain.' "

Coby Karl spent last season with the Los Angeles Lakers before being released just before the start of the 2008-09 season.
