Tom Honig's responsibilities at Wells Fargo continue to expand.
The bank said Denver will be the headquarters for its new nine-state Mountain West Region, assembled from the combination of Wells Fargo and Wachovia. Honig is the head of the region.
He now has responsibilities for Alaska, Kansas, Idaho and Washington, as well as Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, Utah and Wyoming. The states of Illinois and Iowa, previously part of his duties as head of Wells Fargo's Mountain Midwest Region, have been reassigned to another executive.
The Mountain West region has more than 700 Wells Fargo branches and more than 40 Wachovia offices totalling more than $46 billion in deposits.
Wells Fargo first named Honig president and CEO of its Colorado/Wyoming region in 2000. In 2002, Utah was added to form the new Rocky Mountain Region. Honig added Montana in 2003 and the other states in 2006.
Honig has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, most of it with Wells Fargo and its predecessors.
