The Ritz Carlton in Beaver Creek's Bachelor Gulch enclave will close for about a month after ski season and temporarily lay off more than 300 service workers.

The ultra-luxury hotel will not be available for room reservations from April 14 to May 20. All of the employees who are laid off will get their jobs back when the hotel reopens, according to Parool Shah, the hotel's public relations director.

Shah said a number of other upscale hotels in resort towns close briefly during the slow period between the end of ski season and the start of summer.
