The show: A recounting of the events leading up to and following the assassination of America's 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, two months after he was sworn in for his second term. Will Patton provides the voice of John Wilkes Booth; Chris Cooper narrates.

Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown; A Charlie Brown Valentine

The show: It's a double serving of Peanuts (with no danger of salmonella). First, from 1975: Charlie keeps a vigil by the mailbox; Sally thinks Linus' gift to his teacher is for her; Lucy demands affection from Schroeder. Then, from 2002, Valentine's Day finds the gang searching for love: Chuck pines for the little red-haired girl; Sally seeks a way to woo a reluctant Linus; Snoopy takes to his typewriter to author the perfect poem.

Life on Mars

The show: Death threats against a rock star pull Sam (Jason O'Mara) and Chris into the rocker's over-the-top world, where a spacey groupie and an FBI agent known as The Sorcerer (Wallace Shawn) play prominent roles. A turn in the investigation makes Sam wonder if he has now found a way to get back to his time.

Dollhouse

The show: The series about agents for hire who receive personality implants for each mission - and have their memories cleared once finished - opens with Echo (Eliza Dushku) becoming a hostage negotiator in order to free a kidnapped girl. Meanwhile, an FBI agent (Tahmoh Penikett) finds his career threatened by his search for the illegal Dollhouse.

Before You Say I Do

The show: In this Valentine's Day time-travel romance, a man (David Sutcliffe) ends up 10 years in the past in order to change his girlfriend's (Jennifer Westfeldt) negative views of marriage so that she'll end up with him.

Nature: Why We Love Cats and Dogs
* 7 p.m., Rocky Mountain PBS
The show: If you've ever wondered why some people are dog people and others are cat people, this is for you. Animal behaviorists, psychologists, trainers and devoted owners weigh in on the dog-cat divide.
