INSIDE STARBUCKS AT LITTLETON BOULEVARD AND BROADWAY -- Alexa Abrams filled out a mail-in ballot between sips of coffee, taking part in her second election.

"The first election, I was 18. I didn't read up much on it," said Abrams, 22, a graphic design student. "This one, I'm surrounded by it - advertising, popups. It's in your face, for me."

This election is more important for another reason.

"When I was 18, my parents supported me," she said. "Now that I'm spending my own money - for school, for a car, I'm taxed - it's a lot more relevant to me."

She said Amendment 48 was most important to her, was the big draw. If passed, the amendment would determine when human life begins.

"It's the one I'm most knowledgeable about," Abrams said. "I think it's ridiculous. It's completely taking a woman's right to choose for herself. The government shouldn't have any say in that."

Abrams said voting is a right she cherishes.

"In other countries, people aren't given the opportunity to vote," she said. "We're fortunate to have the opportunity. We should take the initiative."

She declined to say for whom she voted.
