In her own words: Jenna Reinert
Published March 30, 2007 at midnight
Reinert, 18, is a senior at Holly High School. Here's her account of what happened:
I work after school at Porky's Parlor, a barbeque and hamburger place.
I went to work at 4 o'clock yesterday (Wednesday). It was slow, real slow.
I left at 8:02 p.m. when the lights went out. I know it was 8:02 p.m. because the time clock didn't work and I needed to punch out.
I was trying to get home, but the town was a wreck.
There was a power line blocking one way and a tree blocking the other.
It wasn't raining bad at all then, but the wind was real bad.
Because I couldn't get home, I went over to Dr. Seufer's. It's not even a block from Porky's but I had tried to go home because I knew my parents would be frantic.
Dr. Seufer's daughter, Christina, is on the basketball team with me, the Holly Lady Wildcats, and we're all friends here.
Dr. Seufer met me at the door and told me to come in and go to the basement.
My phone was ringing off the hook because I have friends east of town, west of town, north of town and south of town.
Then my phone went dead.
My mom finally got a hold of me because I couldn't call her. It was dark all night with just the sounds of the ambulances and the police.
My mom came and got me at 9 this morning (Thursday). I was sleeping then. I didn't know that it was this bad until this morning.
