Resolution sought in knife incident
Published March 29, 2007 at midnight
ERIE - Teachers, parents and school leaders plan to meet with two students involved in an alleged death threat at Erie Elementary School to resolve the conflict, possibly without criminal charges, officials said.
A date and time for the mediation hasn't been finalized.
The parents of a 9-year-old boy who allegedly was threatened March 19 haven't contacted police about pressing charges or getting a restraining order against a 10-year-old student who brought a knife to class last week, Erie Police Lt. Lee Mathis said.
The 9-year-old's mother said she and her husband are discussing their options. But she said that her son is doing well and is "back to his normal routine." Mathis said that if the families want to settle things themselves and with the school, "We are fine with that."
