Severe weather forecast for northeast Colorado

Published March 28, 2007 at midnight

The northeastern corner of Colorado could be in for severe thunderstorms this afternoon that could produce large hail, strong winds and an isolated tornado, the National Weather Service is predicting.

The area of concern is a line between Fort Morgan and Limon to the east.

The weather service says a strong upper level storm system over southeastern Utah will remain stationary, creating snow and gusty winds in the mountains through the night and accumulations of 4 to 8 inches.

Light snow will continue in the mountains tomorrow, slowly moving over western Colorado. An upslope developing behind it will allow light snow to develop along the Front Range and Palmer Divide tomorrow afternoon.
