Sable Boulevard reopens after bridge work
Published March 28, 2007 at midnight
The Colorado Department of Transportation reopened Sable Boulevard between West 136th and West 144th Avenue after completing a bridge replacement project over the Fulton Canal near Brighton.
"The contractor and our staff have taken advantage of good weather and expedited everything, including final paving and striping," said CDOT resident engineer Ed Martinez. "Their hard work put us three to four weeks ahead of schedule; thus, allowing us to reopen Sable Boulevard today."
The project began in January and consisted of demolishing the existing bridge and constructing a new structure over the canal.
To accommodate the construction, a small segment of Sable Boulevard was closed until today.
Zak Dirt Inc. is the contractor of this $380,000 project, which was originally scheduled to be done in mid to late April.
