DU's Dingle signs contract with Ducks

University of Denver junior forward Ryan Dingle will forgo his senior year of eligibility after signing a two-year entry level contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound product of Steamboat Springs led the Pioneers in goals the past two seasons.

The two-time All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association third-team honoree finished his three-year DU career with 98 points on 55 goals and 43 assists in 121 games.

"Ryan has developed into an outstanding two-way hockey player," DU coach George Gwoz- decky said.

PIONEERS ROLL DU senior midfielder Kristie Leggio recorded six goals and seven assists to help the Pioneers women's lacrosse team (9-1) to a 20-7 home victory against Harvard (2-6).

Earlier in the day, Leggio was named the player of the week by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation after recording 15 points in two previous games.

TOLAN SPARKS BUFFALOES University of Colorado sophomore Derek Tolan carded a three- round 220 to help the Buffaloes men's golf team to a second-place finish at the Stevinson Ranch (Calif.) Invitational tournament.

Tolan finished sixth individually.

Wichita State won the tournament, 17 shots ahead of CU.

Air Force finished 13th, led by a 222 from senior Tyler Goulding.

NEWTON LEADS BEARS Kelley Newton totaled a three-round 243 to help the Northern Colorado women's golf team finish 11th at the Anteater Invitational in Irvine, Calif.

CSU SWEPT Tara Oltman and Amanda Hess pitched shutouts to spark the Creighton softball team (24-6) to a 8-0, 3-0 doubleheader sweep against Colorado State (21-16) in Omaha.

KOCMAN HONORED Colorado School of Mines right-hander Katie Kocman, a Columbine High School graduate, was named the softball pitcher of the week by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs outfielder Stacy Haney, another graduate of Columbine High School, was named the RMAC player of the week.

DU PREVAILS Sasha Sullivan won the all-around title to lead the DU women's gymnastics team (14-7) to a 196.525-187.250 road victory Monday night against Air Force.
