Police issue sketch of carjack suspect
Published March 27, 2007 at midnight
Wheat Ridge police have released a composite sketch of a man accused of attacking a woman and her mother while the two were loading small children into a van outside a Walgreens at 12700 W. 32nd Ave.
Investigators have said they believe the suspect was attempting to carjack the vehicle.
The man approached the 39-year-old woman and her 60-year-old mother at about 11:50 p.m. Thursday outside the drugstore.
He grabbed the car keys and climbed into the driver's seat but had trouble starting the vehicle, police said.
The suspect punched the younger woman when she tried to get the keys back then shoved the grandmother to the ground, causing her to hit her head on the pavement.
He then ran from the scene, threatening witnesses as he left.
The women were treated for minor injuries at St. Anthony Central Hospital.
The suspect is described as a white man, about 25 years old, 6 feet tall, 180 to 200 pounds.
He was wearing black cargo pants, a black jacket (possibly with a Nike logo) and a black knit cap.
He had dark blond or dark hair, a pale complexion, light facial hair and several moles on his face.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Wheat Ridge Police Department at 303-237-2220.
