Convicted sex offender facing felony exposure charge

Published March 27, 2007 at midnight

Less than six months after he was released from a Colorado prison, a man classified as a sexually violent predator is back behind bars and facing a felony charge of indecent exposure.

Timothy E. Schreiber, 47, was arrested by Wheat Ridge police Monday in a laundry near West 38th Avenue and Wads-worth Boulevard.

On Friday, a laundry clerk reported that he had used the restroom then exposed himself to her, said Wheat Ridge police spokeswoman Lisa Stigall. He was arrested after the clerk called police when he returned Monday, Stigall said.

Schreiber also is suspected of entering a Wheat Ridge boutique in the 4900 block of Ward Road to use the restroom Friday, Stigall said. In both cases, he allegedly spent up to 20 minutes in the rest-room and made offensive comments to employees, Stigall said.

Authorities say Schreiber has been living with friends in the 13400 block of West 54th Avenue.

He was convicted of two counts of attempted sexual assault on a child in 2000. He also was found guilty of multiple counts of indecent exposure between 1994 and 2005 in Jefferson County and spent almost four years in the county jail.

On Oct. 6, when he was released from prison, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office used a reverse 911 system to alert residents, then it held a community meeting.

Schreiber's arrest didn't surprise authorities. "His judicial process is starting over," said Sheriff's Lt. John Dunow. "He's not learning anything from his experience."

Schreiber is being held without bail. He was jailed on a felony charge because of his record. Indecent exposure is normally a misdemeanor.
