Sex predator re-arrested
Published March 26, 2007 at midnight
Less than six months after he was released from a Colorado prison, a man classified as a sexually violent predator is back behind bars and facing felony charges of indecent exposure.
Timothy E. Schreiber, 47, was arrested by Wheat Ridge police today in a laundromat near West 38th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard.
On Friday, a laundromat clerk reported that he had used the restroom, then exposed himself to her, said Wheat Ridge police spokewoman Lisa Stigall. He was arrested after the clerk called police when he returned this morning, Stigall said.
Schreiber is also suspected of entering a Wheat Ridge boutique in the 4900 block of Ward Road to use the restroom on Friday, Stigall said.
In both cases, he allegedly spent up to 20 minutes in the restroom and made offensive comments to employees, Stigall said.
Authorities say Schreiber has been living with friends in the 13400 block of West 54th Avenue in unincorporated Jefferson County and has been working for a telemarketing firm.
He was classified as a sexually violent predator after a series of convictions. He was convicted of two counts of attempted sexual assault on a child in 2000. He also was found guilty of multiple counts of indecent exposure between 1994 and 2005 in Jefferson County and spent almost four years in the Jefferson County Jail.
Last Oct. 6, when he was released from prison, the Jefferson County sheriff's offfice used a reverse 911 system to alert area residents and then held a community meeting.
His arrest didn't surprise authorities.
"His judicial process is starting over," said Sheriff's Lt. John Dunow. "He's not learning anything from his experience."
Schreiber is being held without bail.
He was jailed on a felony charge because of his previous record. Indecent exposure is normally a misdemeanor. Conviction on the felony charge could carry a sentence of 1 to 3 years.
