Simons: Egg-citing shopping ahead

There are just seven shopping days until Passover and 14 until Easter. So if you'd like your children to meet the relatives wearing something more elegant than hoodies, jeans and running shoes, it's time to start shopping.
Here are a few places to find duds so classy even Great-Aunt Elizabeth will approve.
Chocolate Soup, 7300 E. Hampden Ave., in Tiffany Plaza, 303-741-6017, offers appliqued short-all sets for boys that are dressy without being confining. Coordinating jumpers make for an adorable brother-sister pairing. Through April 7, all spring and summer clothing is 40 percent off, accessories are reduced by a third and all fall and winter clothing is 70 percent off its lowest markdown.
The Darling Doubles Kids Stuff Sale draws thousands of items from more than 80 families. It's 8 a.m. to noon today in the Al Lesser building, Adams County Fairgrounds, 9755 Henderson Road, Brighton, www.darlingdoubles.org. Admission is $1.
Petra Petite, 313 Third St., Castle Rock, 303-663-5565, offers newborn to size 12 fancy dresses for $20 to $60, plus hats and gloves. Labels include Shila, Zaza Couture, Mon Cheri and Honeybee.
Petite Patoot, 1238 S. Broadway, 303-665-8161, www.Petitepatoot.com, discounts new and gently used Easter outfits complete with shoes and accessories. Labels include virtually everything from Absorba to Zutano. Designer dresses that originally retailed for $50 to $250 are $25 to $125.
Studio Bini, Lowry Town Center, Quebec Street and East Second Avenue, 303-366-5644, and 1030 Speer Blvd., 303-477-3227, www.studiobini.com, offers girls' and boys' clothing in sizes infant to 6x. It's designed and manufactured in Denver and sold online, in boutiques throughout the country and at these two local shops. Spring dresses are about $45; boys' striped button-down shirts, $29. Check out the half-price racks.
Tumbleweeds for Kids, 10530 S. Progress Way, Parker, 720-851-6650, has consignment girls' dresses for $5 to $10 and boys' suits for $15 to $20. Labels include Tommy, Abercrombie, Gap, Gymboree, Nike, Ralph Lauren and Guess.
Ten percent of today's sales at Ten Thousand Villages will go to support the Gathering Place, a day shelter for women and children. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, artists from the Gathering Place will be creating hand-painted greeting cards at the store, 2626 E. Third Ave., 303-316-8773. All fall and winter items are reduced by 20 percent.
