Wyoming takes down Oregon in WNIT
Hanna Zavecz scored 18 points and Justyna Podziemska made three three-pointers to help Wyoming to a 64-62 victory Thursday against Oregon in the Women's National Invitation Tournament in Laramie.
Wyoming (24-9) will play at home Sunday against South Dakota State (26-5) in the quarterfinals. The Jackrabbits beat Indiana 60-53.
ALL-AMERICAN Middlebury College women's hockey forward
Abby Kurtz-Phelan, a Denver East High School graduate, was named a first-team All-American in NCAA Division III.
The Panthers (23-4-2) lost 2-1 to Plattsburgh State (27-0-2) in the Division III championship game Saturday.
NELSON HONORED Colorado Eagles center Riley Nelson has been named the Central Hockey League's man of the year for leadership qualities and humanitarian contributions.
In other honors:
Air Force senior thrower Olivia Korte was named the women's outdoor field athlete of the week by the Mountain West Conference.
Western State runner Kim Hogarth was named the men's outdoor track athlete of the week, and Mountaineers freshman Megan Johnson was named the women's athlete of the week by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs high jumper Storm Allen was named the men's field athlete of the week by the RMAC.
DOUBLEHEADER SWITCH The Northern Colorado-Colorado State softball doubleheader will start at 4 p.m. today in Greeley instead of its originally scheduled start Saturday.
SEATON THIRD Avon skier Taylor Seaton finished third in the men's halfpipe at the U.S. Freestyle Championships in Killington, Vt.
Vail resident James Leonard finished fourth.

U.S. PICKS Colorado Mammoth defensemen Tom Ethington, a former University of Denver athlete, and Jamie Hanford have been selected for the U.S. team that will compete at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in May in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
