Stenson, Allenby share lead at CA Championship

In a strong, steady wind that allowed the Blue Monster to live up to its reputation, Henrik Stenson made seven birdies on his way to a 5-under-par 67 to share the first-round lead with Robert Allenby in the CA Championship.

"I just want to give myself a chance on Sundays to win golf tournaments," Stenson said. "The big events, the more you want to win."

Fifteen players in the 73-player field broke par. Tiger Woods was one of them, but barely, with 71.

"Pathetic," Woods said. "I putt a lot by memory and what I've done here over the years. A couple of the putts did the exact opposite than what they used to do."

Allenby made seven birdies, including an approach into the teeth of the wind at No. 5 to 2 feet.

"I just tried to hit three-quarter shots pretty much most of the way and really stay in control with the shots I hit," he said.
