TV weather and traffic for I-70 corridor drivers
Published March 22, 2007 at midnight
The new Summit County TV on Comcast Channel 22 will be entirely dedicated to road, traffic and weather conditions along Interstate 70 from Vail to Denver.
Tomorrow is the launch date for SCTV-22. SCTV is Summit County's government-operated television station.
"Travelers will get real-time information about what's happening on I-70 before they even leave the driveway," said Tim Gagen, Summit County Telecommunications Consortium President and Breckenridge Town Manager. "With this new channel, no one will have to be caught by surprise in a sea of taillights crawling toward the Eisenhower Tunnels."
SCTV-22 programming will include:
- Live feeds from the Colorado Department of Transportations I-70 corridor cameras 24 hours a day.
- Estimated travel times, much like those on the CDOT variable message signs (coming soon).
- Detailed daily weather forecasts and three-day forecasts from the Colorado Avalanche Information Center and National Weather Service.
- Outdoor temperature (measured in downtown Breckenridge) and Mountain Standard Time.
- Satellite and radar maps at the top and bottom of each hour (coming soon).
- Local news-and-events crawl at the bottom of the screen.
"We're really proud and excited to offer this service to all our visitors and locals," said SCTC member and Frisco Town Manager Michael Penny. "When they're planning their drives, they'll have all the information they need at the touch of a remote-control button."
SCTC is composed of the Towns of Silverthorne, Frisco, Dillon and Breckenridge, Summit County government and Summit School District.
