Boys: Scott Cure, Idalia

Cure led Class A Idalia to the championship in the Weld Central baseball tourney last weekend. Cure was the winning pitcher in the second game, a 2-1 victory against Weld Central. He struck out 15, walked one and also drove in a run.

Cure earned the save in the championship game, a 6-4 victory against Bennett, and went 2-for-4 with two RBI. He also stole a base and, from left field, threw out a runner who tried to score from third base.

Girls: Olivia Annalora, Heritage

Annalora, a junior attacker, totaled 15 goals in three games last week for the Eagles in girls lacrosse.

Annalora, an honorable mention all-state selection last season, is the No. 2 scorer in the state, with 21 goals and four assists.

She scored five goals as the Eagles upset previously ranked Denver East 11-4, tallied six goals in a 13-5 victory against Regis and had four goals in the Eagles' 18-1 win against Grandview.

Team: Smoky Hill boys swimming

The Smoky Hill boys swimming team, coached by Scott Cohen, edged No. 4-ranked Grandview to win the 16-team George Washington Invitational at the University of Denver.

The Buffs, hit hard by graduation after last season, outscored the Wolves 349-323. Smoky Hill won only one event during the meet; the 200-yard freestyle team of Rob Hamilton, Casey Vockrodt, Edward Meletyan and Stephen Virgil took the title with a time of 1 minute, 33.99 seconds.

Smoky Hill picked up second-place finishes from Doogie Cohen in diving (450.35 points) and Hamilton in the 50-meter freestyle. Meletyan recorded third-place finishes in the 100 and 200 freestyles. And Andrius Slankauskas finished third in the 100 backstroke.

The Buffaloes travel to take on second-ranked Cherry Creek today in a Class 5A Centennial League meet.
