Aspen's Hotel Jerome will be sold again

Published March 22, 2007 at midnight

The historic Hotel Jerome in Aspen will be sold for the second time in the past two years, disrupting plans for a proposed $45 million renovation of the landmark property.

The Oklahoma Publishing Co., the parent of the famed Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, has a contract to sell the Jerome in the next several weeks, according to Broadmoor President Steve Bartolin.

Bartolin said the hotel's owner, which bought the Jerome in 2005 and spent much of that time trying to get city approval for its planned overhaul, had received a number of offers from interested buyers.

He declined to disclose the buyer or the purchase price.
