3 questions for AFL co-owners Jon Bon Jovi, John Elway

Published March 22, 2007 at midnight

The meeting tonight between the Soul and Crush is the fifth in the well-hyped Rock vs. Jock battle of co-owners Jon Bon Jovi and John Elway. Colorado is 4-0 against Philadelphia, which probably will be mentioned a few times during the telecast. Staff writer Jim Benton participated in a teleconference featuring the two celebrities.

1 Which is the better life - star quarterback or rock star?

Elway: I've never been a rock star, so I don't know.

Bon Jovi: Elway, you've been a rock star since the day you were born. It's a tough gig. Mine just seems to go on. It continues to go on. Mine is a pretty good job.

2 What is more hazardous to your health?

Bon Jovi: That's a close one. You've seen Keith Richards, right?

Elway: Football is harder on the joints, let's put it that way.

3 What do you admire about what each of you has achieved?

Bon Jovi: I love everything that John has accomplished. You have to remember I'm an armchair quarterback and always loved watching him and seeing him win the (Super Bowl) rings at the end of his career. . . . There's a genuine friendship there and a mutual respect.

Elway: Jon is a competitor. He's in this league because he loves football. If you look at the way he's handled his career and the success he's had and the class that he's handled it with . . . you know why he's as successful in the music business as he is.
