NO THUNDERWOLF?

The mythical Thunderwolf is the mascot at Colorado State University-Pueblo, to the dismay of Sen. Nancy Spence, R-Centennial. She believes the mascot should mirror the main campus, the Colorado State University Rams in Fort Collins.

"I don't think one of our esteemed universities should have a logo that looks like a werewolf."

Spence, a CSU alumnus

"While the werewolf is a greatly misunderstood creature, it does have many wonderful redeeming qualities, not the least of which is being nature's most efficient method for controlling populations."

Ernest Gurule, an alumnus of CSU-Pueblo, in a tongue-in-cheek letter to Spence. He works for the Senate Democrats.

TIED FOR COOLEST

Sen. Steve Ward, R-Littleton, this week sported a Jerry Garcia necktie featuring the artwork of the late Grateful Dead musician.

"Boy, what are you, some kind of liberal?" said Sen. Ron May, R-Colorado Springs, who proudly showed off his Rush Limbaugh designer necktie.

BROTHER, CAN YOU SPARE A MILLION?

Rep. Bernie Buescher, D-Grand Junction, put the state's revenue forecast in musical terms Tuesday: He said economists started out singing "I can see for miles and miles" by The Who, but ended up with "I got plenty of nothin' " from the musical Porgy & Bess.
