14% higher risk of stroke patients dying within seven days of admission if they're brought in during the weekend, according to a Canadian study. Researchers, who looked at hospital stroke admissions in Canada from April 2003 to March 2004, said the higher risk might be linked to a relative lack of resources or expertise in hospitals during weekends.
