RIGHT MIX

Manager Clint Hurdle said the Rockies are seeking a certain blend in the 25 players who will be on the roster when the regular season begins April 2.

"In the bullpen, the starting rotation, position players and bench, we're trying to take some young people that have already had some success and that are going to pop and get better along with some experienced guys to be able to keep things together when adversity might have a tendency to set in," Hurdle said. "That's the mix we're looking for all across the board."

STAYING ON SCHEDULE

Rodrigo Lopez threw 100 pitches (61 strikes) and worked six innings for Double-A Tulsa (Okla.) against Triple-A Colorado Springs in a minor league camp game. Working on his normal fifth day, Lopez allowed seven runs (six earned), nine hits, including a home run and two walks. He struck out two.

POP IN HIS BAT

9 of Brad Hawpe's 13 hits during spring training have been for extra bases, including four home runs. His slugging percentage is .811.

BUS RIDES

Four of the Rockies' 10 remaining Cactus League games are in the Phoenix area. The Rockies play in Phoenix on Thursday against the Brewers, in Tempe on Saturday against the Angels, in Phoenix on Monday against the Athletics and in Mesa on March 28 against the Cubs.
