Hung jury in Denver rape case
Published March 20, 2007 at midnight
Jurors were sent home Monday afternoon in the sexual assault case of Luther Hill after they became deadlocked and were unable to reach a verdict.
Hill was charged with assaulting a woman in the public restroom at the Kaiser Permanente complex in Denver Aug. 3.
The 21-year-old victim testified in Denver District Court that she was positive her attacker was Hill. But she first described her attacker as being in his 20s, while Hill is 42. The woman said she recognized Hill by the distinctive white spot in the back of his hair.
Hill's family testified that he was home asleep in bed when the attack took place.
The Denver jury deliberated more than two days.
