Sen. Dave Schultheis has made a name as a hard-right social conservative whose latest cause is stopping illegal immigration. And so the Colorado Springs Republican gets a kick out of how many people tell him they're shocked to discover he's a nice guy. "They say, 'You're not like I thought you were,' " he said, with a laugh. Schultheis, 66, owns and manages residential rental property. An avid fly fisher, he was tickled when his legislative aide found him a goldfish for his photo shoot. Schultheis and his wife, Sandra, have two daughters and five grandsons.
