Broadway vets cast in 'The Little Mermaid'

Published March 20, 2007 at midnight

The world premiere of The Little Mermaid this summer will feature a number of Broadway stalwarts, in addition to Denver native Sierra Boggess in the title role. The cast was announced Tuesday by Disney Theatricals, which is staging the musical at the Buell Theatre this summer before taking it to Broadway in the fall.

The biggest name belongs to Sherie Rene Scott, the original Amneris in Aida on Broadway and most recently in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. She'll take on the role of the villainness, Ursula.

Also in the cast: Norm Lewis of The Wild Party and one of many Billy Flynns in Chicago, as King Triton; Eddie Korbich, memorable as Mr. Snow in Broadway's revival of Carousel and most recently in The Drowsy Chaperone, plays the seagull Scuttle. The cast also features Sean Palmer (Saturday Night Fever) as Prince Eric and Tituss Burgess as Sebastian.

The Little Mermaid runs July 26 to Sept. 9. Tickets are now on sale. Call 303-893-4100.
