Protester alternates signs at Nacchio trial
Published March 19, 2007 at midnight
As former Qwest CEO Joe Nacchio approached the courthouse Monday morning, surrounded by a phalanx of family members and defense lawyers, he was met by a detractora, including Tina Tusa.
Standing on the corner of Champa and 19th streets, Tusa hoisted colorful signs that read "Jail Goes The Weasel," and "I Want Cheese With My Nacchios." Another said: "Joe's Golden Parachute Ends Today."
"I'm expressing my First Amendment rights," the Louisville resident said.
Nacchio is charged with 42 counts of insider trading in connection with selling more than $100 million of stock in early 2001.
Tusa, who provided the only drama on a corner filled with reporters, photographers and police, said she works as a financial planner in Cherry Creek and that her firm's clients lost money in Qwest and Enron stock.
"But I'm not here for them," she said. "I'm just a concerned citizen."
