A 2-year-old girl fell through a partially open window on the fourth floor of the Summit Apartments, 210 Summit Blvd. in Broomfield, and landed on the sidewalk below this afternoon.

She was airlifted to Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Broomfield police Sgt. Colleen O’Connell said the child was home with her father while her mother was at work when she apparently climbed onto the couch and then fell 32-feet from the window to the sidewalk.

Fire and police were at the nearby Flatirons Shopping Center and arrived within minutes of being notified. The baby was crying when police arrived.

"This looks like it was an awful accident," O’Connell said.
