NUMBERS GAME

2-19-1 record for the Avalanche when trailing after two periods. The Sharks are now 36-2-3 when they take a lead into the third period.

STILL MAKING A POINT

Avalanche center Paul Stastny's rookie record point-scoring streak ended at 20 games Sunday, but he didn't mind getting blanked in a big win.

"A game like this, I don't even care as long as you can do something to help the team win," said Stastny, who had 11 goals and 18 assists in his streak and is second among all NHL rookies, with 25 goals and 69 points.

"It was such a big game for us. Point or no point, I'll take this win for our team any day. As long as we're having fun, which is what we're doing, and we're winning, then everything is good."

Stastny's streak is the second-longest in franchise history. Mats Sundin had a 30-game streak with the Quebec Nordiques in 1992.

PRETTY IN PINK

About a dozen Avalanche players and some from the Sharks used special-edition pink sticks in the pregame warm-up and/or during the game Sunday in the NHL's second "Tribute to Moms" that was staged during the weekend.

The sticks were used to raise awareness and money for the fight against breast cancer. The sticks will be autographed and put up for auction.
