Robertson, Eagles beat SteelHounds

Sean Robertson had a goal and an assist to spark the Central Hockey League's Colorado Eagles (43-15-1) to a 3-2 victory Friday against the Youngstown SteelHounds (31-18-10) at the Chevrolet Centre in Youngstown, Ohio.

Greg Pankewicz added an assist for the Eagles in his second game back after missing 46 games this season because of an undisclosed injury.

Former Eagles forward Garrett Larson scored a power- play goal for Youngstown in the third period.

THUNDER RUMBLES Travis Clayton scored the decisive goal in the shootout to lift the CHL's Wichita Thunder (26-26-7) to a 4-3 victory against the Rocky Mountain Rage (16-35-7).

EHN HONORED Air Force junior forward Eric Ehn was named the player of the year by the Atlantic Hockey Association.

Ehn, from Dexter, Mich., also earned first-team all-conference honors.

Falcons teammate Andrew Ramsey was named to the all- AHA second team.

In another honor:

Colorado College senior defenseman Lee Sweatt earned the Most Outstanding Student Athlete Award from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and was named to the all- league third team.

14ERS FALTER Pooh Jeter and Von Wafer each scored 19 points but the NBA Development League's Colorado 14ers (26-15) lost 142-130 to the Arkansas Rimrockers (12-30) at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, Ark.

WILSON CHANGES AGENT Broncos linebacker Al Wilson has severed ties with agent Norm Nixon and has hired Denver- based Peter Schaffer. Schaffer also represents guard Ben Hamilton on the current Broncos roster.

PIONEERS CRUISE Heather Huffaker, Courtney Butler and Nikki Brown won event titles to help the University of Denver gymnastics team take first place in a triangular meet against California and Brigham Young.

The Pioneers recorded 196.100 points while the Golden Bears scored 193.875 and the Cougars 193.800 in front of 2,784 at Magness Arena.

COUGARS SWEPT Bud Wilborn recorded six hits and six RBI in two games Friday but the Colorado Christian baseball team (6-14, 2-8) was swept 14-9, 11-6 by Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rival New Mexico Highlands (9-11, 5-5) at Las Vegas, N.M.

BEARS STRUGGLE Northern Colorado wrestler Shawn Vincent won 10-3 against Oregon State's Kyle Bressler in his first match Thursday at the NCAA Division I wrestling championships but lost his second match in the 184-pound division, the result of a pin by Roger Kish of Minnesota.

UNC heavyweight Reece Hopkin lost his first match 5-1 to Edinboro's Joe Fendone but came back in the consolation bracket for a 15-13 victory against Brown's Levon Mock in Auburn Hills, Mich.

Bears teammates Kenny Hashimoto (141 pounds), Tony Mustari (125) and Luke Salazar (157) each lost two matches on the first day.

Wyoming wrestlers Nick Ramirez, Cory VomBaur, Carter Downing and Sam Wendland each lost two matches.
