A man was killed and two other people were injured early Friday in a head-on crash on eastbound U.S. 36 involving a wrong-way driver.

A 27-year-old Longmont man, who was a passenger in the wrong-way vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity was not released, pending notification of next of kin.

Rachel Lucille Wilson, 21, of Louisville, was listed in critical condition, and Robert S. Hamilton, 49, of Broomfield, was in serious condition Friday.

The accident happened at 4:37 a.m. near the Wadsworth Boulevard overpass.

Wilson, who was driving a 1997 Honda Civic, was going west in the eastbound left lane. She crashed head-on into a 1997 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Hamilton.

Neither Wilson nor her passenger was wearing a seat belt, but Hamilton was.
