Parker: Go Fast launches high-speed promo

Published March 17, 2007 at midnight

That's not Superman high in the sky. It's a super stunt by the Go Fast Jet Pack Man flying over spectators during today's St. Patrick's Day parade.

Eric Scott, aka Go Fast Jet Pack Man, will fly along the parade that starts at 10 a.m. and rambles down Blake Street (starting at 27th Street), before turning back toward Coors Field at 17th Street.

After he cools his jets, so to speak, Scott and the Jet Pack will take off for Las Vegas, where Orange County Choppers, the custom motorcycle shop made famous in the Discovery Channel series American Chopper, will unveil the Go Fast bike.

The motorcycle, designed by OCC owner Paul Teutul Sr., will make its debut Monday by being dropped (gently) by a helicopter on top of the 51st floor of the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The event will be filmed for an upcoming episode of American Chopper.

"Paul Sr. started drinking Go Fast and ordering it through our distributor," said Go Fast founder Troy Widgery about how his company hooked up with OCC. "They won't show (the bike) to us (before the unveiling), but the show's producer said in five years it's the coolest bike he's seen."

The Go Fast bike will make its way to Denver within a week or two, Widgery said. Another collaboration between Denver-based Go Fast and OCC is a co-branded can called Go Fast OCC, which will be making its way to shelves wherever Go Fast is sold.

KELLY'S CORNY: Super chef Sean Kelly is setting aside his fine dining credentials to cook up half a ton of corned beef and a quarter-ton of cabbage for sandwiches served today at The Irish Hound in Cherry Creek and Patrick Carroll's in the Highlands.

Kelly, former owner of Aubergine, The Biscuit and Somethin' Else, plans to grind out roughly 1,000 sandwiches at the two Irish pubs. The Irish Hound is at 575 St. Paul, and Patrick Carroll's is at 3963 Tennyson.

OZZFEST FANS: We've got our Ozzfest. The heavy-metal tour, which is giving away all its tickets for free this year, has announced its schedule, including a July 28 stop at Coors Amphitheatre. Fans will obtain tickets through sponsors and various giveaways, but the details haven't been released yet. Besides headliner Ozzy Osbourne, no lineup had been announced yet either.

BROKER B-DAY BARGAIN: The Broker, one of the oldest restaurants downtown, is celebrating its 35th birthday with a bargain for the lunch bunch.

The 17th and Champa steak house, which opened March 27, 1972, is bringing back original prices from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 26-30. Consider these nostalgic numbers: soup 75 cents, prime rib $4.95, meatloaf $2.85 and cocktails $2.

And, if you bring The Broker a birthday card during dinner that week, you'll get $35 off any bottle of wine. Reservations: 303-292-5065.
