A day when everybody gets their Irish up

Regardless of people's origins, it seems that everyone turns Irish for St. Patrick's Day.

For those who will be participating in the wearin' o' the green, here is a guide to events this weekend.

May the luck of the Irish be yours today.

45th annual Denver St. Patrick's Day parade

When and where: 10 a.m. today, starting at 27th and Blake streets.

This year's theme: "Irish Roots and Cowboy Boots" pays tribute to pioneers, miners and entrepreneurs of Irish descent who contributed to Colorado's Western heritage.

Who'll be there: The parade - thought to be the largest St. Patrick's procession west of the Mississippi - will include the usual lineup of floats, clowns, pipe bands, high school marching bands, Irish step dancers and El Jebel Shriners. The grand marshals are the cowboys from PBS' Texas Ranch House. Info: 303-321-7888

Copper Mountain St. Patrick's Day Celebration An Irish fair will include a free concert from the Samples, followed by a torchlight parade, street entertainers and a fireworks display. 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. 1-866-841-2481;
