Altitude Dream Cars

Exotic and luxury car rentals

Price: $349-$449 (weekend rates)

Where you can get it: Web site

Business owner: Shane Cooper

Location: Interstate 25 and Colorado 119

Tidbits: Fantasizing about escaping to the mountains in a Hummer H2? Or pulling up to the Brown Palace Hotel in a Mercedes CLS 500? Fantasize no longer.

Altitude Dream Cars was created when Shane Coo- per's wife went searching for an exotic car rental for his 40th birthday but couldn't find anything exotic enough.

"She found Mustangs and Corvettes, but nothing outside of these rentals that can be found at a traditional car rental company," Cooper said. "What we're trying to do is make uncommon and unusual sports performance cars available to all individuals."

In addition to the Hummer and Mercedes, Cooper also provides a convertible Lotus Elise, and he hopes to expand the fleet this summer. Each rental includes 150 miles per day, which customers can exceed at an additional charge, and the company offers free, door-to-door delivery within 50 miles of Boulder.

"We want the experience to be fun and as easy as possible for our customers," Cooper added.

MEDIAssistant system

Price: $3,200 or $4,200

Where you can get it: Web site

Business owner: John Lorimor

Location: Aurora

Tidbits: Lorimor began developing his media assistant system three years ago while working with patients at Craig Hospital who had severe spinal-cord injuries.

"The product was designed to help individuals with disabilities easily control their environment, for example their electronics equipment, lights, ceiling fans and even telephones," Lorimor said. "It's PC-based and can be controlled by voice via a wireless microphone, and by using a touch-screen personal digital assistant, both of which 'talk' to the computer."

According to Lorimor, the price of his system includes the computer; an infrared keyboard and Media Center Edition remote control; software; the wireless microphone and/or PDA; custom programming; and installation. The system plugs in anywhere, is compatible with a television or computer monitor and can run any PC software. Additionally, the wireless microphone has a range of about 50 feet. The PDA has a range of 200 feet.
