Ritter to sign education bill in Pueblo

Gov. Bill Ritter is traveling to Pueblo this afternoon to sign Senate Bill 16, which lowers the minimum age of compulsory school attendance from 7 years old to 6.
The summary of the bill states that every child who has attained the age of 6 on or before Aug. 1 of each year shall attend school for at least a specified number of hours during each school year.
Ritter will be at Spann Elementary School at 4 p.m. for the signing.
It is the second bill to be signed in Pueblo this week. He also
signed House Bill 1132, a water-quality measure.
