Air Force's Ehn is a Hobey Baker finalist

Air Force Academy junior forward Eric Ehn was named one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award, given to the best player in college hockey.

A center from Dexter, Mich., Ehn leads the nation with 1.68 points per game, with 62 points on 24 goals and 38 assists in 37 games.

PIONEER BEST University of Denver junior forward Ryan Dingle, who led the Pioneers in goals (22), has earned All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association third-team honors for the second consecutive year.

Metro State senior Drew Machholz was named the men's tennis player of the week by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

RHOADES PLACES Metro State freshman Kenny Rhoades finished second in the 3-meter diving competition Wednesday at the NCAA Division II championships in Buffalo, N.Y.

RAMS SPLIT Colorado State freshman Rebecca Penland pitched a five-hit shutout, striking out 11, for a 4-0 victory against Iowa State (12-20). The Rams (17-12) split a doubleheader after a 6-1 opening loss in Sacramento, Calif.

UNDER PROBE Police in Fort Collins and Laramie are investigating whether any University of Wyoming men's basketball players were involved in the theft of $700 from a Colorado State locker room last month.

University of Wyoming police Lt. Larry Gore said CSU police asked his department to help with the investigation a couple of days after the Cowboys' Feb. 24 game at Moby Arena, according to the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle.

Jackie Swaro, spokeswoman for the CSU police department, said she couldn't talk about the ongoing investigation.

CORMIER HIRED Former University of Colorado receiver Cedric Cormier has been named receivers coach at the University of Montana, Grizzlies coach Bobby Hauck said.

CHARGERS LAND STEPHENS Former CU assistant strength coach Vernon Stephens, 33, has been hired as an assistant conditioning coach by the San Diego Chargers, coach Norv Turner announced.

TORRES WANTS SECONDS Former CU athlete Jorge Torres will seek to defend his title Saturday in the USA Men's 8-Kilometer Championships at Central Park in New York. Torres won the title in 2005 but the event was not held last year.
