Casino towns see Feb. boost

Published March 16, 2007 at midnight

The state’s mountain casinos recorded about $64.4 million in revenues last month, a gain of 4.7 percent from a year earlier.

Gaming halls in Black Hawk, the busiest of the three gambling towns, generated $46.2 million. That represented a 5.2 percent increase from February 2006.

Central City casinos drew roughly $6.09 million in proceeds for a gain of 10.76 percent.

In Cripple Creek, a slim increase pushed up revenues to almost $12.1 million.

The month of February proved to be more lucrative than January for casinos. Overall adjusted gross proceeds – the amount wagered minus payouts to winners – rose 10 percent on a month-to-month basis.
