Roll Call, March 14
Published March 14, 2007 at midnight
SAY WHAT?
The most unusual bill title this year: "Feed cattle sheep poultry goats swine."
Senate Bill 207, by Sen. Gail Schwartz, D-Snowmass Village, has to do with feeding animals raised for human consumption.
NEXT STOP:
COMEDY CENTRAL
"I'm going to mandate that you have to wear a helmet in a car while wearing a seatbelt."
Rep. Frank McNulty, R-Highlands Ranch, joking with lawmakers "Can you smoke?"
Rep. Joe Rice, D-Littleton, joining in
"Only if you're in a car seat."
Sen. Josh Penry, R-Fruita, nailing the punchline
IT'S TYPICAL OF AN ADVERB-CRAZED WRITER OF HORROR
Colleagues who serve with Rep. Steve King on the House Judiciary Committee couldn't resist ribbing the rookie Republican from Grand Junction.
He's been known to insert an adverb before some votes, as in "regretfully, no," and "happily, yes."
That inspired Rep. Amy Stephens, R-Monument, to come up with a list of "Kingisms" she handed out to committee members:
THE AYES HAVE IT
Righteously, yes.
Cautiously, yes.
Oddly, yes.
THE NOS HAVE IT
Nervously, no.
Grumpily, no.
Joylessly, no.
