Flury scores six goals in DU lacrosse victory

Ali Flury scored six goals to lead the 15th-ranked University of Denver women's lacrosse team (6-1) to an 18-12 home victory Tuesday against George Washington (1-2).

Earlier in the day, Flury, who has 29 goals this season, was named the player of the week in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, along with Stanford goalkeeper Laura Shane.

In another match Tuesday, the DU men's lacrosse team (4-3) won 16-4 against Hartford (1-4).

Jon Paulsona and John Dickenson each scored three goals for the Pioneers.

RAMS SWEEP Kim Klabough pitched a complete-game, nine-inning victory to help the Colorado State softball team (16-11) win 1-0 against Iowa (14-12) to start a doubleheader sweep Tuesday.

Ashley Muñoz hit a three-run homer to lead CSU to a 5-4 win in the nightcap in Sacramento, Calif.

TORP NAMED FINALIST Metro State women's basketball guard Anne-Marie Torp has been named a finalist for the V Foundation Comeback Award.

Torp averaged 8.2 points for the Roadrunners this season after undergoing two heart surgeries since 2004. The award is named for late basketball coach and broadcaster Jim Valvano.

HASHIMOTO SEEDED Northern Colorado wrestler Kenny Hashimoto (23-2), a Thornton High School graduate, was seeded ninth in the 141-pound bracket at the NCAA Division I wrestling championships, starting Thursday in Auburn Hills, Mich.

BUFFALOES PREVAIL Monica Milewski and Franziska Jendrian won singles and doubles matches to lead the 30th-ranked University of Colorado women's tennis team (9-3, 5-0 Big 12 Conference) to a 4-3 victory Monday against No. 43 Oklahoma State in Boulder.

EPEE TITLE Air Force Academy junior fencer Eliza Enyart won the women's epee title Saturday at the NCAA West Regional in La Jolla, Calif.

EAGLES ROLL Ed McGrane scored two goals to help the Central Hockey League's Colorado Eagles (42-15-1) to a 6-1 victory Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Blazers (31-18-8) at the Budweiser Events Center.

FIGHTS ANNOUNCED Arturo Cruz will fight Jorge Reyes to top a card of several bouts at the Palladium club, Interstate 76 and Pecos Street, beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday.
