DOG ATTACKS BABY A couple's pet malamute attacked their 11-month-old baby Tuesday afternoon.
Boulder County sheriff's Deputy Clay Leak said that by the time he reached the house, on the outskirts of Nederland, someone in the family had separated the dog from the baby.
"The child should be fine," Leak said.
The baby was taken by ambulance to Children's Hospital in Denver.
The dog will be confined at the family's house for 10 days. Afterward, they can decide what to do with the dog, Leak said.
WORKERS HURT Three men were taken to a Denver hospital Tuesday after the scaffolding they were working on collapsed on the side of a 19-story apartment building on Race Street near City Park.
Denver police Lt. Phil Champagne said officers were passing the building at about 10:50 a.m. when they noticed some scaffolding had collapsed and saw people in trouble.
Workers had been tightening joints on the building and were lowering the scaffolding to the ground when the accident occurred.
Champagne said the workers were able to ride the equipment down the side of the building from roughly the three-story level but were thrown onto the concrete as the scaffolding neared the ground.
The workers' conditions were unknown Tuesday night.
SCIENCE PRIZE WON Meredith MacGregor, a senior at Fairview High School in Boulder, earned ninth place and a $20,000 scholarship in this year's Intel Science Talent Search.
MacGregor, 18, won for a study of fluid dynamics called the "Brazil Nut Effect," which showed that shaken particles separate by size, largest on top.
More than 1,700 U.S. high school seniors competed. The winners were announced Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
