Weld County man arrested for animal abuse
Published March 13, 2007 at midnight
A 39-year-old Platteville man was arrested yesterday after a Weld County Sheriffs animal control official found more than 20 neglected horses on his property on Weld County Road 32.
The Greeley Tribune reported today that Troy Beattie faces 22 counts of felony aggravated cruelty to animals because the horses were severely underweight due to a lack of care.
Most of the horses were taken from the property to two private ranches in the county, and two others were removed by their owner.
A veterinarian will assess the conditions of the horses today.
