TUCSON -- Taylor Buchholz is no longer in the battle for a spot in the rotation.

He has been moved into the bullpen.

Buchholz made his debut in his new role on Tuesday, working the final two innings of a 5-5, 10-inning tie against San Diego at Hi Corbett Field. Buchholz joins LaTroy Hawkins as right-handers who have been set in a bullpen in which lefty Brian Fuentes is the closer, and lefties Tom Martin and Jeremy Affeldt also are expected to be on the roster.

Ramon Ramirez and Manny Corpas, right-handers on the team last year, are considered to have the inside track on the two remaining spots, but non-roster invitees Matt Herges, Bobby Keppel and Dave Veres had made early impressions.
