Tow-truck driver killed in accident

Published March 9, 2007 at midnight

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating an industrial accident in Loveland that killed a 44-year- old tow truck driver Thursday.

Rae Bontz, spokesman for the Loveland Police Department, said the accident happened about 10 a.m. when the tow truck driver from JC Service and the owner of ACA Transportation were attempting to load a skid loader onto a flatbed tow truck.

The truck bed was inclined as the tow truck driver, whose name is being withheld, guided the loader onto the bed. When the tow driver crawled underneath the loader's bucket to secure the loader with chains, the bucket dropped, striking the victim on the head and killing him.
