Published March 9, 2007 at midnight
PUEBLO - The state championship dream is still alive for the Holyoke girls basketball team.
Victoria Timm scored 20 points, leading the sixth-seeded Dragons to a convincing 61-44 victory against No. 3 Plateau Valley in the Class 2A state quarterfinals at the Pueblo Events Center.
"Victoria Timm is just an awesome player," said Plateau Valley coach Toni Gunther, whose team finished 22-2. "We did everything we could to stop her, but we just didn't have an answer for her."
Vanessa Timm, Victoria's twin sister, poured in 14 points for
Holyoke (16-8). The Timm sisters had 12 points each in the first half as the Dragons took a commanding 33-18 lead.
