A man has been crushed by a conveyor belt in a gravel pit where he was working in DeBeque this afternoon, the Grand Junction Sentinel reports.

The accident occurred at the LaFarge Gravel Pit.

The man was airlifted by St. Mary's Air Life helicopter about 1:30 p.m. and flown to Grand Junction.

His condition isn't yet known.
