Arno first received the advice from her father and says many good leaders she has worked with throughout her career have echoed his words.

"It's good advice because what it really means is the ripple effect of good deeds and connections can be immeasurable," Arno said.

"I've followed the words my entire career, which has helped me in the nonprofit sector since the work is based on relationships and working together with limited financial resources."
