Soldier's funeral likely next week
Published March 8, 2007 at midnight
Arrangements for a military funeral may be completed today for a Pueblo soldier who was killed Monday in Iraq, said his wife Joanna Harris.
Army Cpl. Blake Harris, 22, was killed by a roadside bomb as he was riding in a Humvee about 50 miles northeast of Baghdad, the Army announced.
The soldier, who was serving his second tour in Iraq, re-enlisted two days after the couple's 2-year-old son Jonah was born, Joanna Harris said.
"I begged him to re-enlist for our son because (Blake) was doing something good with his life," she said. Still, she said, "(Blake) didn't want to leave us. He didn't want to leave his son. It was very, very hard for him."
Harris said her husband's body was being returned to the United
States today and a funeral probably would be held next week.
