THE FAKE DOUGH COOKIE CAPER

Here's a criminal that has no heart. And it cost some Girl Scout cookie sellers a $50 bill. An unidentified man escaped with cookies and $40.25 in change after passing a counterfeit $50 bill last week at an Albertsons store in Louisville, according to police and the Daily Camera in Boulder.

A parent assisting the scouts at the sale realized that the $50 bill might be bogus. The parent took the bill to a bank branch inside the store, where it was confirmed counterfeit.

"That's pretty low-level," said Chris Prior, a parent at the sale. "I hope they choke on those Samoas, let's put it that way." The suspect is described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a thin build. He had a scruffy mustache and was wearing a beige or tan coat.

Anyone with information about the suspect may call Louisville police at 303-666-8634.

A REALLY BIG SALE

$7,023,308 Never in the history of the Colorado Lottery have weekly Scratch ticket sales reached $7 million. Now it's a record: Sales hit $7,023,308 last week with 23 Scratch games on the market.

This surge in Scratch sales is attributed to a strong combination of factors including a new game, the $37 Million Super Cash Spectacular, which is the second game in the past nine months to boast a top prize of $500,000.
