Woman accused of possessing dynamite
Published March 7, 2007 at midnight
Police arrested a 27-year-old Grand Junction woman after an informant said he knew she had dynamite in her apartment.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported this week that Jenifer Vroman-Leonard was jailed for investigation of possession of an explosive device, possession of explosive parts and unlawful use of a controlled substance.
She was held in the Mesa County Jail on $7,500 co-signed personal recognizance bond. Formal charges are expected to be filed Friday.
According to police, an informant said he was at the apartment Sunday when a man arrived and asked Vroman-Leonard to take the dynamite and try to sell it. It also had a timing device that could be used to detonate them.
A search warrant indicated she traded a wedding ring set with the man for a quarter of a gram of methamphetamine that she smoked.
The woman told police she wrapped the dynamite and timer in a towel
and sweater and placed them in her closet where police found it
after obtaining the warrant.
